A Talking Gorilla Named Koko

I  saw the picture of Koko and her kitten in a book so I wanted to know about it and look for information.
Koko´s story seems very beautiful and interesting because he isn´t just an animal, he has feelings, understand a lot of language and he is too sweet.
I hope you enjoy it too.

Koko, a female lowland gorilla, was born July 4th, 1971, in San Francisco, California and had lived most of her life in The Gorilla Foundation in mountainous Woodside.

Koko is short for the name Hanabi-Ko, meaning "fireworks child" in Japanese (a reference to her date of birth, the Fourth of July). Under the guidance of  Dr. Francine "Penny" Patterson, she became the first gorilla to show, without a shadow of a doubt, just how close to humans gorillas really are. Koko was taught sign language as part of the Gorilla Language Project. She has advanced further with language than any other non-human with a vocabulary of over 1000 signs. Koko understands approximately 2,000 words of spoken English. Koko initiates the majority of conversations with her human companions and typically constructs statements averaging three to six words. Koko has a tested IQ of between 70 and 95 on a human scale, where 100 is considered "a normal human."

In spite of all her accomplishments, one thing that seems to get most people's attention isn't only her ability to communicate in sign language, but her capacity to express complex feelings in a very human way. Through her, we could understand a little better that deep emotional reactions to pain, suffering, happiness and all other emotions commonly associated to humans seem to be true of many other living creatures.

That capacity to express it in ways WE could understand has made her the center of a lot of media attention in the form of documentaries and interviews. But what should we take from that? That gorillas are smart? We've known that. That gorillas have feelings. Most people who have been around animals wouldn't doubt that. Then what?

One thing people forget when observing Koko's gifts is that she is part of a group of animals that is in the endangered list and that might disappear if we don't take action to protect them and their environment.

Koko is a gentle beast who cried when her kitten "All Ball" died and who has tolerated our interference and confinement with love and patience. The least we can do is learn from her that this planet would be a very lonely place if we didn't have so many magnificent creatures to share it with.

This is a video about koko and All Ball

The Pursuit Of Happyness

Based on a true story about a man named Christopher Gardner, Gardner has invented heavily in a device known as a "Bone Density scanner".
He feels like he has made these devices.
However, they do not sell as they are marginally better than the current technology at a  much higher price. As Gardner tries to figure out how to sell them, his wife leaves him, he loses his house, his bank account and credit cards.
Forced to live out in the streets with his son, Gardner is now desperate to find a steady job; he takes on a job as a stockbroker, but before he can receive pay, he needs to go through 6 months of training, and to sell his devices. Written by John Wiggins.

This movie was of my liking because it was able to appreciate values such as love invaluable, unique, unconditional of a father to his son, perseverance, humility, the importance of believing in yourself and never let the circumstances break down.

*A bird in hand is worth two in the bush.
* To kill two birds with one stone.
*All that glitters is not gold.
*An eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth.
*It costs an arm and a leg.
*It's not my cup of tea.
*To call a spade a spade.
*They caught me red-handed.
*A chip off the old block.
*That´s a horse of a different colour.
*Wild horses couldn´t Keep me away.
*It´s my shout!!
*They were dropping like flies.
*To be filthy rich.
*To Kick the bucket.
*¡Good riddance!
*Are you up for it?
*Let bygones be bygones.
*Time is a great healer.
*Live and let live.
*Better late than never.
*Man cannot live by bread alone.
*It´s like talking to a brick wall.
*Walls have ears.
*If at first you don´t succeed, try and try again.
*Easier said than done.
*It was blessing in disguise.
*It´s a bitter pill to swallow.
*The sky´s the limit.
*The same old history.
*He´s afraid of his own shadow.
*To take the bull by the horns.
*To swim against the tide.
*To sleep like a log.
*That´s the way the cookie crumbles.
*I´m all ears.
*Armed to the teeth.
*You´re pulling my leg.
*It left a bad taste in my mouth.
*In the blink of an eye.
*That´s beside the point.
*What´s bugging you?
*It´s dirt cheap.
*Don´t hold your breath.
*He drives me up the wall.
*There´s something fishy here.
*You´re in good hands.
*Give me your word.
*He´s a pain in the neck.
*He´s a penny pincher.
*A storm in a teacup.
*He´s as stubborn as a mule.
*Mr. know-it-all.
*Seeing is believing.
*They arrived safe and sound
*Who runs the show here?

I wanted know how to say and write SAYINGS.
I think is so intereresting.

¿Why do you worry about so many things?
¿Why do you carry the weight of a yesterday that you regret,
if it is not in your hands?
¿Why do you trouble the fear of tomorrow,
that maybe you will not see?
Sufficient for the day his own eagerness.
                       Yesterday... spent
                   Tomorrow... not reached
Full well today that you have in your hands
           Leaves yesterday that haunts you
   Leaves tomorrow you worried
Only think that you have today
          ¡Take advantage of it!
           ¡Be thankful!
             ¡Fill it!
      Think today,  is your day
With yesterday no accounts, with tomorrow either.
                      To fight...
                     To overcome...
                    To repair...
                      To love...
¡ You accounts with today !

This reflection was given to my mom at her work a while ago and i liked very much. I keep it in my books and then I became interested in traducirla.
